Verification removes most of the risk from carpooling, but a quick look at a driver’s profile before you book removes more. These are the seven things worth checking every single time.
1. The verification badges
Look for the ID, selfie and phone badges. Drivers should also carry licence and vehicle badges. A profile missing any of these cannot publish a ride on Safrly, but it is still worth a glance.
2. Ratings, and what the reviews actually say
A 4.9 average from six rides tells you less than a 4.6 from ninety. Read the most recent reviews rather than the score alone — punctuality and driving style come up again and again.
3. Vehicle details match the photos
Make, model and colour are listed on every published ride. If what pulls up does not match, do not get in — cancel and report it from the app.
4. The route makes sense
Check the pickup and drop points on the map before booking. A pickup two kilometres from a metro station at 6am is a different trip from one at the station entrance.
5. Stated preferences
Music, smoking, pets, luggage, conversation. Most friction on a shared ride comes from a mismatch here, and it is all on the profile.
6. Your emergency contacts are current
Trip sharing and SOS are only as useful as the numbers behind them. Check yours in Profile → Safety before a long trip.
7. Trust your read
If anything feels off in the chat before the ride, cancel. You will not be penalised for cancelling early, and no saved fare is worth the doubt.
